Northampton returned to the top of the English Premiership on Sunday after overcoming Saracens 31-24 at a rain-lashed Allianz Park in London.
James Wilson crossed twice for the visitors and Phil Dowson also claimed a try, while fly-half Stephen Myler added 16 points with the boot.
Saracens also scored three tries, through Jackson Wray and a Chris Wyles brace, and saw Charlie Hodgson kick nine points.
Victory took Jim Mallinder's side back to the top of the table, after Exeter had briefly taken occupancy of the summit by beating Wasps 31-15 on Saturday.
"Tactically we got it right in that first half," said the Northampton coach, whose side lost 24-18 to Exeter at Franklin Gardens last weekend.
"This is always a difficult place to come and play and the conditions were very poor. We got our tactics right and got a good lead."
He added: "We wanted to take them on for the full 80 minutes. We know we can play on this surface.
"We know that Sarries play a very good kicking game and try to pin you down and then they take their opportunities.
"We also saw the kind of game that Saracens can play when they're chasing the game and they can move the ball. They're equally dangerous at that.
"You've got to get your tactics right against a team like Saracens and we just about did that today."
In the day's other game, Leicester moved up to fifth after beating bottom club London Welsh 26-5 at the Kassam Stadium.
