The iconic former forward has always held an affection for the Rio side and will support them on Sunday, as they look to achieve an unlikely championship victory.Brazilian football legend Pele has revealed that his sympathies at the weekend lie with Vasco, as the Rio de Janeiro club hope to win the Brasileirao title on the last day of the season.Pele has never made a secret of his affection for Vasco, against whom he scored the 1000th goal of his career in 1969. Speaking on Friday, he confirmed that he would be one more fan in this weekend's all-or-nothing clash."I am with the fans! 'Vasquinho' are in my heart. They are the club which opened their doors to me at the start of my career, where I won my first title playing for a combined Santos and Vasco team," the icon told Vasco's official website, as part of a presentation which saw him presented with a club shirt bearing the 'Pele 10' name and number."The club already deserve the championship for all the hard work this season, but we know that football does not work that way."Vasco will host Flamengo in the Engenhao at 18:00 CET, at the same time as Corinthians kick off against Palmeiras in the Pacaembu.Vasco meet Carioca rivals Flamengo on Sunday, in a match they have to win to have a chance at winning the 2011 Serie A. Two points adrift of leaders Corinthians going into the 38th match, the Gigante da Colina also need the Sao Paulo side to lose against Palmeiras to seal their fifth national championship.
