The Penn State University athletic department announced 94 percent of 2011 football season ticket holders renewed their seats for the 2012 season. Penn State's athletic department released a statement Wednesday saying almost all of the 2011 football season ticket holders bought season tickets for 2012, the Centre Daily Times (State College, Pa.) reported. The release also said more than 3,400 new season tickets were sold, doubling last year's new season ticket sales. Penn State sold 21,000 season ticket packages to students during the summer. Penn State averaged 101,427 fans per game and ranked 4th nationally in football game attendance. Since the end of last season, Penn State athletic and administrative officials have been accused of covering up former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky's repeated child molestation.
