Spanish BBVA Primera Liga club, Real Betis on Monday named former Zaragoza and Chelsea player, Gustavo Poyet as their new coach for the next two seasons.
The Uruguayan, who has coached Brighton and Sunderland in England as well as AEK Athens in Greece, will replace Juan Merino at the end of the campaign,
Merino replaced Pepe Mel midway through the current season as Betis struggled to avoid relegation and led the club successfully in the second half of the campaign, helping them assure their Primera Liga future with several games left to play in the season.
Merino' s last game in charge will be next weekend when Betis entertain Getafe next Sunday in the last game of the season.
