A late winner from Romain Alessandrini earned Rennes a place in the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue with a 2-1 result over top-flight rivals Troyes on Thursday. Jonathan Pitroipa fired Rennes in front after just eight minutes, providing the finish to a ball into the area from Julien Feret. Corentin Jean then marked his senior debut for Troyes with the equaliser after 22 minutes with the youngster firing low into the net. The prospect of extra-time threatened until Alessandrini brought the home fans to their feet with his goal in the final minutes, capitalising on a poor clearance by visiting goalkeeper Yohann Thuram-Ulien. Rennes will now face Montpellier in the last four of the competition, with St Etienne to take on Lille in the other semi. From : FIFA
