The death of a 71-year-old inline skater on the Berlin marathon course has cast a shadow over Sunday's race through the German capital. The inline skater died 15 kilometres into the race over 42.195kms (26.2miles) on Saturday, the curtain-raiser to Sunday's run through Berlin and no further details have been released. It is the second death by a hobby athlete in the German capital this year after a 25-year-old collapsed and died while running in April's half marathon. The world record of 2hrs 3mins and 38 seconds was set by Kenya's Patrick Makau in Berlin two years ago, the eighth time a marathon record has been broken in the German capital. Runners from 119 countries have registered for the 41,120 places in Sunday's race. Source: AFP
