After Stuttgart's relegation into the second division club, president Bernd Wahler stepped down while coach Juergen Kramny returns to the second team, the "Swabians" confirmed on Sunday.
Stuttgart reacted on the club's second relegation after 41 years, as president Bernd Wahler stepped down from his office with immediate effect.
"It is still unbelievable that we relegated. I take the responsibility and the consequences. Therefore, in consultation with the supervisory board, I step down from office," Wahler said in an official statement.
"We respect the decision of Bernd Wahler, who accepted his responsibility to draw personal consequences," Stuttgart's chairman of the supervisory board Martin Schaefer said.
Coach Juergen Kramny, who was promoted to the head coach position after the dismissal of Alexander Zorniger back in November, returned to his previous position as the contractual relationship ended with the relegation. "Whether, and in what capacity Juergen Kramny will remain in Stuttgart after the summer, will be decided in the coming weeks."
Wolfsburg's 3-1 victory over Stuttgart on Saturday sealed the second relegation in 41 years for the "Swabians".
