Mainz forward Adam Szalai has signed a contract extension to remain with the Bundesliga club until 2015. The 24-year-old joined Mainz in 2010 and has scored eight goals in 50 appearances, with a serious knee injury having ruled him out for a year. He is now hoping to put that spell on the sidelines behind him and concentrate on being successful over the next three seasons. "Mainz are a particularly special club for me," he said. "The club, the coach, the team and the fans always stood by me during my long injury absence and I feel very happy in Mainz. I have the feeling that I have not yet delivered my best for Mainz." The Hungary international will play an important role in the club's future, according to their coach Thomas Tuchel. "Adam is an important component of our team given his technical ability, his physical presence and particularly his positive character," he said. "Therefore, the news of his contract extension is great for all of us." Szalai only had a year left to run on his previous deal prior to the new extension. FIFA
