Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick, who suffered a rib injury in a pre-season game, is expected to be ready for the Sept. 9 season opener, the Eagles said. Vick left Monday's game against New England after being hit in the midsection. Subsequent examinations determined Vick suffered no broken bones or fractured cartilage, the team said. The injury is being described as a rib contusion. The quarterback injured his thumb in the Eagles' first pre-season game. Philadelphia Coach Andy Reid said Vick "most likely won't play" Friday when the Eagles have another exhibition against the Cleveland Browns, but Vick should be healthy to play when the regular season starts. Philadelphia also has a pre-season game Aug. 30 before opening the regular season Sept. 9 at Cleveland. Rookie Nick Foles is expected to take the bulk of the snaps at quarterback for Philadelphia in Friday's game.
