The draw of the World Volleyball Men and Women Clubs Championships 2012 will take place on Sunday, 6.30 PM, in the Lusail Hall at the QOC tower. The event is organised by the Qatar Volleyball Association in October 13-19, 2012. The draw ceremony will be attended by the President and Board members of the Qatar Volleyball Association, the members of the Organising Committee, in addition to the representatives of the participating teams and of the International Volleyball Federation. This year’s edition is the last of a series of three events held in Doha which made Qatar successfully organise the tournament to the satisfaction of the public and the world volleyball family, after the event had been on hold for 17 years. Eight teams take part in the Men’s competition: Trentino form Italy, the title holders in the three previous editions, Al Rayan and Al Arabi from Qatar, Al Zamalek from Egypt, Zenith Kazan from Russia, Belchatow from Poland, Nuevo Leon from Mexico and Belo Horizonte from Brazil. As for the Women’s competition, it includes six teams: Rabita Baku from Azerbaijan, the title holders, Tianjin from China, Fenerbahce from Turkey, Catanu from Puerto Rico, Buenos Aires from Argentina and Nairobi from Kenya. The matches will be played in the Women’s Sports Hall in Aspire Zone while the Al Arabi, Qatar club and the Qatar Volleyball Association halls will be reserved for the team training. The prize money for the event is worth one million three hundred thousand US Dollars. The winning team in the men’s event will receive 250 thousand $ while the runners up get 170 thousand $, the third team 120 thousand $. As for the women’s event, the winners get 200 thousand $, 140 thousand for the runners up, 90 thousand for the third and 60 for the fourth, while the two remaining teams get 30 thousand each. The Qatar Volleyball Association had formed the working committees for the Championships including Khalid Al Mawlawi as President of the Organising Committee, Mohamed Ali Al Mohannadi as Event Manager, Youssuf Ahmed Kanu as Event Assistant Manager and Ahmed Mohamed Ridha as General Coordinator. As for the other committees, Nasser Al Mutawaa will head the Finance Committee, Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari heads the Media and Marketing Committee, Ahmed Al Shibani heads the Secretariat Committee, Hassan Najm heads the Venues and Equipment Committee, Khalid Al Bouainen heads the Logistics and Services Committee, Hussain Imam heads the Technical and Statistics Committee, Mohamed Abdulla is heading the Public Relations and Protocol Committee and Salah Al Saadi heads the IT Committee, while the Security Committee will be presided by the representative of the Interior Ministry.
