Australia have drafted in full-back Kurtley Beale at fly-half for a Rugby Championship Test against South Africa in Pretoria on Saturday. Highly inventive Beale replaces injured Quade Cooper in the only change from the team that overcame a 13-point deficit to beat Argentina 23-19 in the previous round of the southern hemisphere championship. “The jersey number might be new but his role within the team will not be,” Wallabies’ New Zealand-born coach Robbie Deans said after the team was named seven hours ahead of schedule. “Although his season has not been without challenges, Kurtley stepped up with his involvements on the Gold Coast (against Argentina), making a difference when he was on the field.”
