After making the switch back to the Hawthorns on a free transfer this summer, Gera has only managed to make three league appearances for the club due to injuries earlier in the season. Even though the player hasn’t been involved in all of the games this term, team-mate Reid feels that this absence will be ‘devastating’ as the side approach the busy winter period. Reid told the Express & Star: “I am devastated for Zolly as a player and as a team-mate. “It’s a blow to the team but first and foremost your thoughts go out to him, we just hope his rehab goes well and he’s back as soon as possible.” After suffering long term injuries himself, Reid sympathised with Gera on his misfortune with injuries since making his switch. “I’ve been in similar situations, where I’ve had long-term injuries, come back for a spell, and then been out with another problem,” he stated. “If there is anything I can do to help him in his rehab then I will do. He’s a great lad.”
