5.2 magnitude quake hits New Zealand north Island's Hawke's Bay

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit Hawke's Bay, eastern North Island of New Zealand on Monday, and no damages or causalities have been reported. The magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck just after 2 p.m. local time and was centered 25 km northeast of Porangahau at a depth of 40 km, the local GeoNet website said. GeoNet had more than 1,900 reports of the quake, which it was described to be of moderate intensity, with one from as far away as the Northland town of Kaiwaka. Five aftershocks, the most intense of which measured 3.5, were reported 15 minutes after the main quake.
