
A national campaign to rescue Nile River has succeeded so far in removing some 5,830 encroachments on the river banks.
This came in a statement issued by the Ministry of Water resources and Irrigation on Thursday.
Some 38 encroachments have been removed during the campaign today, said Minister of Irrigation Hossam Moghazy.
The campaign is ongoing to remove all encroachments nationwide, he added.
Launched in January 2015, the “Nile Charter Campaign” aims to remove 50, 399 violations that affect the river, which is the main water resource for Egypt.
