BLOM Bank, in collaboration with the Lebanese Army and MasterCard, organized a field trip to plant trees in the town of Souk al-Ghareb, which has become mine-free thanks to the BLOM MasterCard “Giving” initiative launched in 2010. During the event, dubbed “Removing Mines and Planting Trees,” 500 pine trees and 100 olive trees were planted in the presence of chairman and general manager of BLOM Bank Saad Azhari, General Refaat Chokor, deputy chief of staff-operations representing Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jean Kahwaji, and General Imad Odaimy, director of the Lebanon Mine Action Center. In two years, the bank was able to assist in the removal of numerous mines and cluster bombs in various areas of Lebanon.
