The Chinese government will "declare war" on pollution, said Premier Li Keqiang on Tuesday.
The government will not only mobilize society, but improve the legal system and enforcement and encourage environmental protection through innovation, said Li, speaking to entrepreneurs ahead of the Summer Davos in north China's Tianjin Municipality.
There are conflicts between treating pollution and stabilizing growth, especially for a developing country, and China must find a way to develop while protecting the environment, Li said.
The key is elimination of outdated industries and new energy-saving and environmental protection sectors, he said.
Li welcomed the entrepreneurs participation in environmental protection, believing there is a huge market for such in China.
