Civic groups oppose naval drill involving Japan's self-defence forces

Dozens of civic groups urged South Korea, the United States and Japan Monday to stop carrying out their joint naval search and rescue exercise involving Japanese self-defense forces this week.
The three countries were to start the two-day joint drill in international waters south of South Korea's southern resort island of Jeju later in the day, which also involves a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier.
