
Madagascar will celebrate New Year festivities in rain, meteorological forecast said on Tuesday. According to a forecast of meteorological services in Antananarivo,an intense tropical cyclone called Bejisa will damage the ambiance of New Year festivities already prepared by families here. The intense tropical cyclone Bejisa, currently situated at 380 km east off Vohemar, an eastern town of Madagascar, or 13.3°S/53. 3°E, continues its trajectory south-southeast with a speed of 10 km per hour in the Indian Ocean. It brings a wind of 235 km per hour The Ministry of Public Works and Meteorology Botomanovatsara urged the Malagasy people to pay attention on New Year's Eve, especially those who live along the coast. The ministry says it has already prepared a budget to cope with emergency needs in case of damage by the cyclone. Madagascar is situated in the Indian Ocean cyclonique zone, which is prone to cyclones from November to April every year.
