
An earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale jolted vicinity of Sardasht in Iran’s southern province of Hormuzgan on Wednesday.The quake occurred at 04:33 hours local time (0103 GMT), Iran’s (IRNA) news agency reported citing the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran UniversityThe epicenter of the quake was registered in an area located at 26.43 degrees latitude and 57.96 degrees longitude.There is no report on any damage caused by the earthquake.Iran sits on several major faultlines of the earth’s crust, and is prone to frequent earthquakes, many of which have been devastating.
