Flood and landslides are likely to hit the eastern Norwegian counties of Hedmark, Oppland, Buskerud and Telemark this coming weekend, the Norwegian news agency NTB reported on Thursday. Hot weather combined with intense rainfall can lead to flooding and landslides in the eastern region of Norway, said the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate. The unusually warm weather is causing heavy snowmelt in the mountains while major rainfalls have been forecast for Friday and Saturday. The situation is followed closely and preparations for combating flooding and landslides have been made by concerned authorities, said the report.
