A threat of flood persists in the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Russia’s Far East, Russian Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Puchkov said on Tuesday. “The emergency task force will focus major anti-flood efforts on Komsomolsk-on-Amur, where a threat of flood in a large part of the city persists,” he said at a visiting meeting of the government committee for the cleanup of the flood aftermath in the Russian Far East that Russian Deputy Prime Minister and presidential plenipotentiary representative in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev held in Khabarovsk on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Puchkov noted that all economic facilities in the city are protected; an aviation plant operates as scheduled. “Yesterday three airplanes in Komsomolsk delivered 80 tons of food, 127 qualified rescuers and required equipment,” the minister said. He noted that emergency workers are reinforcing the dams. “I would like that all city services will work more energetically to give aid to people in the flooded territories and at temporary accommodation centers,” Puchkov noted.
