An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter Scale was felt at 23.48 last night in the east of the island of Crete, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) has reported. The epicentre of the quake was located 65 kilometres south east of the city of Heraklion, 3 kilometres north of the town of Ierapetra. No victims or material damage have yet been reported. At 02:19 local time this morning, another tremor of 3.5 on the Richter scale shook the northern part of the Peloponnese. The epicentre of the quake, the EMSC reports, was located 12 kilometres to the east of the city of Patras, at a depth of 5 kilometres. No victims or material damage have yet been reported. Earthquakes are frequent in Greece, the country with the highest level of seismic activity in Europe.(ANSAmed).
