Minister of Environment Taher Shakhshir discussed on Monday with US Ambassador to Jordan, Alice Wells, the environmental projects taken up jointly by Jordan and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), in addition to projects that have been completed.
They also discussed their future plans for projects that will play a key role in achieving sustainable development, saving energy and creating a safe and clean environment.
Shakhshir pointed to the burdens caused by the Syrian crisis and its environmental impact, and said concerted international efforts are required to support Jordan in tackling these burdens which exceed the Kingdom's capacity.
Wells praised the efforts exerted by Jordan and its role in receiving a large number of Syrian refugees, and also pointed to the environmental initiatives undertaken by Jordan's Environment Ministry.
