The annual stocktake of London Zoo has begun. Being one of the oldest zoos in the world, the stocktake at the London Zoo is expected to take around 10 days. Home to more than 850 species and endangered animals, London Zoo has animals which you may not be able to see in Europe. Easy to count some of the animals but tough to count some other small species makes the zoo keepers' job even more difficult. It is hugely important for zoo keepers to have patience and to be cautious as they are even trying to count small fishies hiding under corals or rocks. The centre which was founded back in 1826 was an international scientific charity yet opened its doors to the public in 1847.
