Environment ministers from Portuguese speaking countries are drafting on Friday the Maputo Declaration focusing on sustainable development. This is the first meeting the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) holds after the United Nations conference on sustainable development in Brazil in 2012. "This declaration is very important because with its implementation we intend to reinforce the cooperation between the CPLP member states in regard to management, protection and conservation of environment towards a sustainable development and also to support them in the fulfillment of commitment assumed on environment," said Alcinda Abreu, Mozambican Minister of Coordination and Environment Affairs. Abreu added that the Maputo Declaration will be presented to the climate summit to take place this year in New York.
