
Western Nicaragua was shakenagain Friday by a strongearthquake whose epicenter was south of the capital Managua about 138kilometres deep, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said, according to dpa.People in Managua raced out of their homes and offices when the quakestruck at about 2:29 pm (2029 GMT). Its magnitude was 6.6, the USGSsaid.Managua's cathedral was evacuated as the stations of the cross wereunder way. A number of apartment houses also were cleared and 29families were brought to safety, government spokesman Rosario Murillo.An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 shook Nicaragua on Thursday. Awoman died and 33 people were injured in that earthquake, which alsostruck near Managua. The government estimated that 1,200 houses were damaged.
