Russia’s flood-related situation remains within the norms, causing no emergencies, Chairman of the National Emergencies Control Centre at the Russian Emergencies Ministry Vladimir Stepanov said on Tuesday. “The flood-related situation develops in compliance with the forecast. Prevention steps are being taken under plans,” he told a teleconference. In particular, he mentioned that specialists are involved in the sawing and blackening river ice, as well as in the clearing and stubbing of river channels. Bomb technicians carried out 400 ice blasting operations across the country over month solely. “Now, areas near private houses are inundated in the Republic of Khakassia, as well as 17 low-level bridges in the Orenburg and Samara regions and in the Republic of Tatarstan,” Stepanov said, adding that the life support of the local population was not violated.
