Unusually warm winter in Slovenia with an average of 5 to 10 degrees centigrade since new year's day are affecting local farmers and beekeepers. Successive days of lukewarm weather, well above the average temperatures, have caused some some spring flowers to bloom, while bees have started leaving their winter clusters and collecting pollen. Local weather shows forecast no snowfall or freezing temperatures in the next two weeks. If there is a sudden snowfall, it will delay spring farm chores, and affect the quality and quantity of the harvest, said agricultural experts. The average atmospheric temperature in Slovenia at the national level has increased by 1.7 degrees celsius in the last 50 years, according to the Environment Agency.
