Heavy snow continuing since yesterday in Northern Turkey blocked the roads, cutting off access to remote locations in the area. Teams with plows, trucks and blowers are working to open the roads, said a local official in the province of Rize. The amount of snowfall is measured as high as 50 cm in higher parts of province while it was as much as 1m around Ovit Crossing in Rize. The authorities warned the public over possible inconveniences that heavy snowfall might bring. The traffic in Artvin province was also affected by the heavy snowfall. Traffic police has been patrolling the area to check on cars for tire chains. Some schools are closed in Ordu as the province is affected by snow fall and frozen roads.
