
A spring snowstorm dropped as much as 90 centimeters fo snow on Colorado’s Rocky Mountains on Monday, while the central United States prepared for hail and other severe weather, forecasters said. Snowplows cleared roads for the Monday morning rush hour after the storm, which is expected to dissipate by the afternoon, covered the city of Denver with more than 10 centimeters of snow and some mountain areas with 91 centimeters of snow, the National Weather Service (NWS) said. Snow has been falling and accumulating over the past four days in Colorado, the NWS said. Deep snow measuring 68 centimeters also was reported to the west, in Utah’s Uinta Mountains, the agency said. Hail and damaging winds were forecast for Monday in parts of 12 central U.S. states from Minnesota to Texas to Ohio, the NWS said. The severe weather forecast comes one day after a tornado heavily damaged Sutton, Nebraska, about 130 kilometers southwest of Lincoln.
