Rainstorms have killed three people on Portugal's Azores Islands, media reports quoted officials as saying. The bodies of the three men, aged between 30 and 50 years, were discovered on Thursday. Their houses had been hit by a mudslide in Faial da Terra on Sao Miguel Island late Wednesday, dpa reported. Several families were evacuated for fear of new mudslides, regional premier Vasco Cordeiro said. Numerous houses were also reported to have been flooded and several people injured in other parts of the Atlantic archipelago, which is located some 1,370 kilometres west of Portugal.
