
A 7.9-magnitude earthquake on Saturday noon forced millions of people to flee their homes and caused cracks in many residential and office buildings, meteorological office said.
There are also reports of injuries in the quake, which jolted homes for more than a minute.
In the Bangladeshi capital, one residential building tilted. In southwestern Kushtia town, cracks were seen in one hospital building and the administrative building of the Kushtia University.
Residents in Dhaka and other cities and towns fled their homes in panic.
Damages caused by the quake on other parts of the country are still unknown.
