
A powerful typhoon moved through Japan's southernmost main island of Kyushu on Thursday morning after lashing the islands of Okinawa, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The season's eighth typhoon, Neoguri, made landfall near the city of Akune, Kagoshima Prefecture in southern Kyushu, according to Japan's News Agency (Kyodo).
The typhoon brought heavy rains to western Japan. In Seiyo, Ehime Prefecture on the smallest main island of Shikoku, a 77-year-old man was confirmed dead after being found collapsed in a waterway.
