Vacationers have killed a 4-meter shark near the town of Slavyanka, located in Russia's Far Eastern region of Primorye, an eyewitness said on Saturday. "First they caught the shark from the motor boat on a large baited hook, and then beat it to death with harpoons," the eyewitness said. He added that the shark was brought to the shore and hundreds of vacationers were taking photos of it. Ichthyologists have arrived to examine the shark. Three attacks of sharks were already recorded in Far East in less than two weeks. One of the victims, a 16-year-old boy suffered leg injuries on August 18, while the other, a 25-year-old man, lost both his hands on August 17. The third shark attack was registered on August 27 near the town of Slavyanka. The report is currently being verified as only doctors can establish whether the man, who has been injured in the leg and other body parts, was indeed attacked by a shark.
