The exhibition "It’s the Political Economy, Stupid" is hosted by the Contemporary Art Centre of Thessaloniki until September 30. This exhibition brings together an international group of artists who use their work to critique 30 years of neoliberal globalisation, privatisation, flexible work schedules, deregulated markets, all of which have driven most of the world’s governments to wholly or partly abandon their previous role as arbitrators between the security of the majority and the profiteering of the corporate sector. As the curators Oliver Ressler and Gregory Sholette mention in their statement: “…The very idea of the modern nation state is in jeopardy as the deterritorialised flow of finance capital melts down all that was solid into rawmaterial for market speculation and bio-political asset mining…” The exhibition’s title is a rephrasing by Slavoj Žižek of the phrase It’s the economy, stupid, a widely circulated phrase used during Bill Clinton’s successful 1992 presidential campaign against incumbent President George Bush Senior. The exhibition was presented at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York (24.01-22.04.2012) and in spring 2013 will be hosted by the Pori Art Museum in Finland. From visitgreece
