Eurosceptic UKIP well ahead after 3-quarters of EU results

The eurosceptic UK Independence Party (UKIP) of Nigel Farage took a clear lead in the European parliament elections in Britain on Sunday after results from three-quarters of the regions. UKIP scored 22 seats after nine of the 12 regions declared, equating to 29 percent of the vote, ahead of the 16 seats for the Conservatives of Prime Minister David Cameron (24 percent) and the 14 seats won by the main opposition Labour Party (23.5 percent).
