France deploys 250 troops in central Africa capital

France said it deployed 250 troops in the Central African capital Thursday after intense gunfire left several dead and wounded, adding to the violence that has seen the country descend into deadly chaos. "There was fighting between ex-Seleka (rebel) members and unidentified armed people at around 3:00 am..., French forces had to react," French army spokesman Gilles Jaron told reporters, adding they were part of the French force already in the country.
