Germany joins statement urging 'strong response' on Syria

Germany has signed on to a global statement urging "a strong response" to a deadly chemical weapons attack blamed on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime, Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said Saturday. Germany was the fifth European Union member to sign the statement issued at a G20 summit in Saint Petersburg where it was signed by 11 countries -- including the US, Britain, France, Italy and Spain.
