Latvian PM resigns in wake of supermarket cave-in tragedy

Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis resigned Wednesday in the wake of a supermarket roof cave-in that killed 54 people in Latvia's worst-ever peacetime disaster. "The government takes political responsibility for the tragedy" in Riga, the premier's spokesman told AFP, confirming the resignation announced after talks with President Andris Berzins.
