Magnitude of Paris march 'unprecedented'

The magnitude of the Paris march against extremism is "unprecedented", the interior ministry said Sunday, as hundreds of thousands of people joined an emotionally-charged rally through the capital.
"The demonstrators are scattered over a much larger area than the routes initially planned for," the ministry said, after one of the march organisers said up to 1.5 million people had flooded Paris.
