Putin hopes for release of European observers

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that he hoped to see the quick release of European military observers detained by pro-Kremlin separatists in strife-torn eastern Ukraine. "I hope that this conflict will be resolved and that they are able to freely leave the territory (of Ukraine)," Putin said in televised comments, while stressing that the new pro-Western leaders in Kiev should have agreed the observers' mission with the militants who control parts of eastern Ukraine.
