Russian TV: Assad says Syria to hand over chemical arms

President Bashar al-Assad said in an interview with Russian television Thursday that Syria would place its chemical weapons under international control in line with a proposal from Moscow. "Syria is handing over chemical weapons under international control because of Russia," Assad was quoted as telling Rossiya 24 state news channel. "US threats have not affected the decision," he added.
