US rapist's jail death 'an apparent suicide

A man jailed for rape after holding three women captive for a decade and who was found dead in his cell apparently committed suicide, an official said Wednesday. JoEllen Smith, spokeswoman for the Ohio prisons department, said that Ariel Castro was found hanging in a cell in which he was alone Tuesday night in a prison in the town of Orient. "It does appear to be an apparent case of suicide," she told AFP.
