US slaps sanctions on Rwanda over child soldiers case

The United States slapped sanctions on Rwanda on Thursday after former rebels with ties to the army allegedly used child soldiers. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the United States was invoking the Child Soldiers Protection Act in sanctioning Rwanda, in a bid by Washington to end "any involvement in the recruitment of child soldiers."
