Vietnam court jails activist lawyer for 30 months

A Vietnamese court on Wednesday sentenced a prominent activist lawyer to 30 months in jail on tax evasion charges that rights groups have denounced as politically motivated. Le Quoc Quan, 42, was also given a $59,000 fine, court president Le Thi Hop announced after a half-day trial in Hanoi.
