White House: Obama statement on Mandela at 2220 GMT

US President Barack Obama will make a statement about the death of former South African leader Nelson Mandela at 2220 GMT, the White House said Thursday. Mandela, the revered icon of the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa, has died at age 95, following complications from a lung infection, the country's current president Jacob Zuma announced.
