A total of 191.202 million cubic meters of water-saturated sand have so far been lifted by 39 dredgers at the new Suez Canal lane project, head of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish said.
The figure represents 74.1% of the target of 250,000 million cubic meters, he said.
Meanwhile, executive director of dredging works at the project Wagdy Zaky said Dutch dredging company Van Oord will send its trailing suction hopper dredger "Utrecht", the largest in the world, will arrive on May 27 to join the dredging fleet working in the project.
It has a working capacity of 100,000 cubic meters daily, Zaky said.
