The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has distributed today relief aid to 2,000 displaced Syrian families in the district of Akkar in northern Lebanon, a statement by the organization said on Saturday.
The aid consisted of food packages, winter clothes, and blankets, among other things, enough to meet the needs of a family of five for a month, said chief of the KRCS team in Lebanon Abdulrahman Al-Saleh, in remarks to KUNA.
He, along with member of the social committee affairs at KRCS Aziza Abul, told KUNA that Kuwaiti aid to the displaced at this time would go far to help them get through the winter season.
The KRCS team had actually started its latest aid drive in Lebanon last Wednesday, directed in particular to the displaced Syrians in the northern parts of Lebanon, close to the border between Syria and Lebanon.
Yousef Boutros, chief of Lebanese Red Crescent operations in the northern region of the country, noted to KUNA his country's deep appreciation for Kuwaiti help to thousands of displaced families.
Kuwait has been among the vanguard of nations offering aid and humanitarian supplies to over one million Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
