
Only 56 days are left to finalize the new Suez Canal Project, the Armed Forces said on Thursday.
Dry digging operations at the New Suez Canal were over after digging 230 million cubic meters, the army said in a statement.
It added that further 50 million cubic meters have been dug to expand El Ballah bypass to become 10 kilometers long and 312 meters wide.
A total of 217 million cubic meters of water-saturated sand have so far been lifted at the New Suez Canal project.
The figure represents 84.1 percent of the target of 258 million cubic meters.
About 38 dredgers are operating in the water way.
Four tunnel groups with each group consisting of two tunnels are now being built, including car and train tunnels, the statement said
