As many as 94,000 feddans of corn have been planted across the province of Qalyubia, said Undersecretary of Agriculture Ministry Mohamed Sami.
In press statements on Sunday, Sami said that the crop is going well so far.
Several crops have been affected by the severe heat wave that has hit the country, Sami said.
He noted that the ministry has increased campaigns to raise awareness of farmers as regards irrigation to overcome this wave.
